What is first-touch attribution?
First-touch attribution gives the whole credit for a member to the first touch, the ad, post or search that introduced you, whatever came after. It shows what starts relationships and nothing about what closes them.

First-touch attribution for gyms
A member’s path to your front desk usually has more than one step: a reel in March, a friend’s mention, a search for your gym’s name in April, a click on the ad at the top, a form, a consult. First-touch attribution hands the whole member to the reel, because it came first. Every later step, including the search that got them to book, is treated as if it never happened.
Most gym CRMs already do a version of this without calling it anything. A contact record carries two sources: the first one, recorded when the person was created, and the latest one, overwritten each time they come back through a tracked link. Report on the first and you have first-touch attribution. Report on the latest and you have last-touch. Same contact, two different answers about which ad deserves next month’s budget.
The stakes are which campaigns look essential. First-touch flatters prospecting: the broad Meta campaign that introduces people gets credit for every member it touched, however long ago, and the search campaign that closes them looks like it did nothing. It is a useful lens for one question, what starts relationships, and a poor basis for a budget, because it cannot tell an introduction that led somewhere from one the member forgot a week later.
The other trap is time. A first touch has no window unless you give it one, so an ad from six months ago can claim a member who walked in for reasons that had nothing to do with it. Whatever model you use, apply it to a verified payment; the attribution model entry covers how the rule and the attribution window fit together, and marketing attribution for gyms walks the whole chain.
Where this sits in Adsu
Adsu does not use first-touch. It uses the last eligible touch within 30 days of the payment, not the first. Adsu credits the last eligible touch inside the 30 days before the payment. Adsu counts verified stages only: if a stage cannot be verified, it is not counted. Every report is one line per campaign per location. The earlier touches are not thrown away: every visit, call and enquiry sits on the member’s timeline, so the reel that started things is visible beside the search that closed them, and neither is cut into fractions.
Whatever first and latest source your CRM stores on the contact stay where they are; Adsu reads the contact and appointment records from your CRM, HighLevel included, and adds the payment from your billing system, so the credited touch is the one that led to money. Booked, showed and paid go back to Google as offline conversions and to Meta through the Conversions API.
Questions, answered.
First-touch credits the earliest interaction a person had with your marketing; last-touch credits the most recent one before they converted. On the same member, first-touch tends to reward the ad that introduced you and last-touch the search or click that got them to act. Adsu is last-touch, applied to the payment rather than the form.
As a lens, yes; as a budget rule, no. It answers what introduces people to your gym, which is worth knowing when you plan prospecting. It cannot tell you which ads produce members who pay, because it stops looking after the first step. Use it to read the top of the funnel, and credit revenue by a rule you can check against the front desk.
Because they are answering different questions. The CRM stores the first source and the latest source on the contact, and shows whichever the report was built on. Each ad platform credits itself by its own model and window, on the conversion it was told about. Adsu credits one touch per verified payment, so its source is the ad that led to money.

An attribution model is the rule that decides which ad, click or call gets credit when someone joins after several touches. Four common models, and Adsu’s.
Last-click attributionLast-click attribution gives all the credit for a conversion to the last ad click or touch before it happened. What it misses, and how Adsu applies it.
Multi-touch attributionMulti-touch attribution splits the credit for a conversion across the ads and visits that came before it. Why Adsu does not weight touches.
Attribution windowAn attribution window is the number of days after an ad click or call during which a conversion can still be credited to that ad. Adsu uses 30 days.
Revenue attributionRevenue attribution is crediting the money a customer paid to the marketing that produced them. Why billed money beats pipeline value, and Adsu’s rule.
