What is first-party data?
First-party data is the information your business collects directly: CRM contacts, the booking calendar, billing records, website visits. For a gym it is the only data that knows who paid, which is why ad tracking has to start from it.

First-party data for gyms
Second-party and third-party data are things you buy or borrow: audiences, lists, the platforms’ own signals about who clicked what. First-party data is what happens inside your business. The enquiry in your CRM, the consult on the calendar, the membership in your billing system, the visit recorded on your own website. None of it is guessed, and all of it belongs to you.
The stakes for a gym are simple. The ad platforms know who clicked and, on a good day, who filled in a form. They do not know who showed, who paid or who renewed, because those events happen in your systems and never touch a browser. If your tracking only uses the platforms’ data, it stops at the form. If it uses your first-party data, it can follow the person to the payment.
The plan is to join the two. A click ID or a set of UTM parameters captured on the visit, an email or phone number captured at the enquiry, a payment recorded against the same person: that chain is what turns first-party records into ad tracking. Each link is a fact from your own systems, and the whole chain can be audited member by member.
Where it goes wrong: first-party data is only as clean as the front desk keeps it. A phone number typed with a typo, a member created twice, an email left blank, and the join fails for that person. The fix is at the desk, not in the ads.
How Adsu uses first-party data
Adsu is built on your first-party data: the CRM supplies contacts and appointments, the billing system supplies payments, the ad accounts supply campaign identity and spend, and the Adsu pixel on your website records the visit. A member is matched across those systems on an exact email or phone, never on a guess. Adsu counts verified stages only: if a stage cannot be verified, it is not counted. Every report is one line per campaign per location.
Each customer’s data is kept logically isolated from every other customer’s, and Adsu acts as a processor on your instructions; the privacy policy sets that out. Adsu credits the last eligible touch inside the 30 days before the payment. Booked, showed and paid go back to Google as offline conversions and to Meta through the Conversions API.
Questions, answered.
First-party data is collected by your business from your own customers and visitors. Third-party data is collected by someone else and sold or shared, such as a purchased audience. Second-party data is another business’s first-party data shared with you. For ad tracking, only your own first-party records know who paid.
Yes. Payments, shows and renewals only exist in your CRM and billing system. A tracking setup that relies on the ad platform’s pixel alone ends at the form fill, because that is the last thing the browser sees. Joining the click to your own records is the only way to know which ad produced a paying member.
It should be handled as yours, on your instructions, and kept separate from every other customer’s. Adsu works as a data processor for the contact, lead and payment data you connect, keeps each customer’s data logically isolated, and does not pool one gym’s point-of-sale data with another’s. The privacy policy has the detail.
